Available slide designs are suitable for IFA Histology Cytology Immunology etc. coated in hydrophobic or super hydrophobic inks. Tasman Scientific slides are manufactured with premium materials with high resistance to hard laboratory chemicals.
Teflon™ PTFE superhydrophobic coating
Premium
- Contact angles to water in excess of 140 deg.
- High chemical and solvent resistance.
- Minimise cross contamination and increases microlitre volume.
- Standard colours Blue or white, others are available on request.
Epoxy hydrophobic coating
Economical
- Contact angles to water to 40 deg.
- Autoclavable with high resistance to laboratory solvents including Acetone.

Standard slides are MENZEL-GLASER 26 x 76 mm 1.0 mm thick
(ISO Norm 8037/I) Frosted end extra white glass.
Others available are:
- Plain glass ie. no frosting.
- 1" x 3" (25.4 x 76.2mm)
- 2" x 3" (50.8 x 76.2mm) plates.
Adhesive glass
Two types of adhesive glass are available.
Trajan
Specialised coating that produces the positively charged surface required for histology, cytology and microbiology applications.
Polysine™
Proprietary Thermo Scientific coating from Menzel.
Derived from the chemistry for Poly-L-Lysine coating,
attracts frozen and paraffin embedded tissue sections.
Note: Only available in 1" x 3" glass size with frosted tab.
